Channa Sense Research
The website of a research centre using AI to farm snakehead fish, with every page, from publications to datasets, edited in Payload CMS.
Channa Sense Research is a centre of excellence started by Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya to monitor and control the spawning environment of snakehead fish (Channa striata) in South Sumatra, and to put AI tools for fish farming into the hands of small businesses, farmers and community groups. Its work supports SDG 14, life below water.
A research centre's site is mostly lists that never stop growing: papers, datasets, patents, press, team members, equipment. So every one of them is editable by the researchers themselves, with Payload CMS running inside the same Next.js app as the public site.
Edited by the researchers
Publications
Journals, proceedings, books, patents and copyrights, each a Payload collection.
Datasets and products
Datasets with their own detail pages and preview links, shown in the navigation next to the products.
People and places
The research team with its heads, and the infrastructure: rooms and the equipment in them.
Outreach
Activities, mass-media coverage and social-media posts.
CMS inside the app
Payload runs inside Next.js itself: the admin panel lives at /admin, content is served over its REST and GraphQL APIs, rich text uses the Lexical editor, and images go through sharp. Fifteen collections back the site, so adding a paper or a new piece of lab equipment never needs a developer. The site was migrated into its own repository from the platform first built for ISysRG at Universitas Sriwijaya.
